Forest School

Mrs Malham

Forest School Lead

Outdoor Learning/Forest School

We have many fantastic outdoor areas at Penryn Primary that include spaces for gardening, planting and growing flowers and vegetables, a wildlife pond, trees, woodland areas, two Forest School sites, play equipment and much, much, more.

Mrs Malham runs daily Forest School sessions which every child in the school will participate in from Reception through to Year 6. During these sessions, children learn about trees and wildlife and how to protect them, fire safety and campfire cooking, shelter building, safe use of tools, woodland crafts, natural play and more. Children can explore the pond area and help plant flowers and vegetables to brighten the school grounds. There is extensive evidence that direct contact with nature benefits children's physical, mental, emotional health and well-being, creating happy learners, who are confident, curious, resilient and independent.
