PE & Sport Premium
At Penryn Primary Academy we believe that there are a whole range of educational, health and wellbeing benefits from delivering high quality PE and school sport.
To achieve these benefits, the children are taught and assessed by PE specialists from year 1 through to year 6, in six key areas: Health and Fitness, Cognitive skills, Personal Skills, Social Skills, Creative skills and Physical skills.
We also offer a range of extra-curricular sporting opportunities to our pupils, these range from football and multi-skills to bowls and BMX biking – we hope that this will give the children a lifelong love of sport and a healthy lifestyle.
Alongside the PE and Extra-curricular sporting activities we also aim to produce confident, skilled performers. Our links to Penryn College mean that we have access to a range of leagues and competitions across a variety of sports as well as a great Gifted and Talented Programme.
The Government has again committed to renewing its package of funding for physical education (PE) and school sport. Through this ‘Sport Premium’ the Government is continuing to provide £150 million in additional funding to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools.
This funding will be ring fenced and will be allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with a dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support. Funding will be allocated through a lump sum for each school and a per-pupil top-up mechanism. The formula will reference the number of primary-aged pupils (i.e. children between the ages of 5 and 11).
