Pastoral Lead

Meet Our Pastoral Lead – Tamsin Irons

Hello! My name is Tamsin Irons, and I am delighted to be joining Penryn Primary Academy in September 2026 as Pastoral Lead and Teacher.

I have worked in primary schools for over 30 years in roles including Assistant Headteacher, SENDCo, Inclusion Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead. Throughout my career, I have always believed that children do their best when they feel safe, happy and understood.

As well as leading pastoral care, I'll also be teaching across the school. I love being in the classroom because it helps me build strong relationships with children and be part of their everyday school life.

How I can help

My role is to support children and families, helping every child feel confident, included and ready to learn. I believe every child is unique, and that behaviour is a way of communicating how they are feeling.

I can support with:

  • Children's emotional wellbeing
  • Friendships and behaviour
  • Attendance
  • Family worries or changes at home
  • SEND and inclusion
  • Helping children overcome barriers to learning

Working together

I believe children achieve the most when home and school work together. Every family is different, and I know that parenting can sometimes be challenging.

Whether you have a concern, need some advice or simply want someone to listen, please know that my door is always open. I hope to build positive relationships with families based on kindness, trust and open communication.

Finding the right support

Sometimes families need a little extra help. If needed, I can help you access support outside school, including:

  • Early Help services
  • Family Hubs
  • Emotional wellbeing services
  • Bereavement support
  • Young Carers services
  • Other local organisations that support children and families

If you're unsure what support is available, I'm always happy to help you find the right service.

I feel very lucky to be joining the Penryn Primary Academy community and can't wait to get to know the children, families and staff. You'll often see me in classrooms, on the playground or around the school, so please do come and say hello.

I look forward to working with you to help every child feel valued, supported and able to flourish
